ECS is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in our Silver Spring, MD office. Candidate shall have design integration experience with shipboard mechanical systems and become a valuable member of an engineering team developing procurement specifications for research ships. Duties to include providing technical evaluation of vendor proposed system designs, providing assessments on the design maturity, and determination of expected system performance to meet operational requirements. The candidate will support various new ship design and construction programs under the NOAA Fleet Recapitalization efforts. The primary focus of this position will be assisting program managers with day to day activities of ship acquisition. The duties include performing preliminary ship design studies; performing engineering analyses on ship's structure; conducting trade-off studies; performing equipment foundation calculations; and contract validation. Additional duties include ship checks, specification development, drawing review/modification, acquisition document development, technical writing, and construction oversight.
