Nature Of Work An employee in this class is responsible for performing a variety of sub-professional engineering assignments, including compliance inspections on major municipal building, civil, and utility construction projects. Work is of considerable difficulty and includes detailed, continuous reviews of materials and work methods to assure that each part of the project is completed according to plans and specifications. Under direction, employees exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in conducting and participating in compliance inspections when project involves complicated features such as complex foundation problems or unique design components and monitors construction activities for adherence to safety practices and other requirements.
