Role:

TTS is seeking a competent Controls (automation) Engineer who will leverage their expertise in PLC programming, control panel design, instrumentation, AC and DC systems, troubleshooting, and testing to support Power Generation and Oil & Gas conversion, modification, upgrade, and service projects throughout the world.

The Controls Project Engineer shall work as part of the TTS Engineering team with emphasis on:

  • Software development, testing, startup, and commissioning for PLC-based Control Systems
  • Detailed design of PLC-based Control Systems
  • Detailed electrical design of AC and DC systems
  • Creation, review, and approval of required project deliverables
  • Oversight and direction of electrical technicians for control panel fabrication
  • Factory and On-site testing and validation of system performance

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and ensure the project design fulfills all Customer requirements as established in the Customer's technical specifications, request for quotation/proposal, and purchase order.
  • Drawing creation, review, and approval for equipment assembly/layout drawings, wiring diagrams, system block diagrams, system wiring schematics, system topology/architecture diagrams, and communications/network diagrams using AutoCAD design software.
  • Generation of Project Bill of Materials including component selection, drawings, specifications, cable schedules, and documents for procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Software development from one of or a combination of the following:
    • Logic Diagrams
    • Control Narrative/Specification
    • OEM Documentation and Drawings
    • Cause & Effect Diagrams
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Troubleshoot existing PLC programs using historical data, real-time data, and customer feedback
  • Site services to include, control system installation supervision, testing, startup, and Customer training
  • Ensure projects are completed according to project plan (scope and budget), schedule, bills of materials, drawings, and requirements
  • Work to TTS Engineering and Project Execution guidelines, standards, and processes
  • Provide project coordination, reporting, and documentation to Project Management
  • Effective communication and collaboration with multiple levels within the organization

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years Electrical, Controls, and/or Project Engineering experience
  • 3 years in an automation environment with direct involvement in software development, configuration, testing, and implementation (required)

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or GE/Emerson PLC platforms
  • Proficiency with RSView Studio, FactoryTalk View, Cimplicity, Wonderware, or Archestra Human Machine Interface (HMI) platforms
  • Familiarity with any of GE, Westinghouse, Siemens, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Solar, ABB, Mitsubishi gas turbines for power generation and/or oil & gas applications
  • Familiarity and ability to read/understand Electrical Schematics, Cable Schedules, Control Logic Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and Cause & Effect Diagrams
  • Working understanding of UL508a and National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Electrical Process design including specification and selection of Electrical and Controls components, Low Voltage Power distribution (480 VAC/120 VAC), and process control instrumentation
  • Electrical design and creation of connection drawings with AutoCAD
  • Ability to synthesize information from electrical/mechanical systems and manufacturer's data sheets
  • Proficiency with appropriate tools to conduct electrical testing, including digital multi-meters, process calibrators, and function generators
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), or related field

  • Travel:
    • Travel to customer sites is required
    • Travel is project based (domestic and international) and can vary based on project timelines
    • Estimated travel is 30-50%
