Project Engineer LOCATION: Piqua, Ohio

REPORTS TO: EngineeringBASIC FUNCTION:Focus on new product development activities in support of our strategy to increase sales from new products. Provide technical assistance for major design/development projects including schedule, design, development, detailing and testing of components and assemblies. Support team efforts to meet product cost objectives. Position involves application of engineering fundamentals to product design. Prepare designs for engineering approval with minimal supervision. This will include dimensional analysis and product performance calculations performed independently to support others working on design projects. Must be able to communicate well with fellow engineering staff members and other personnel within the company, in the United States as well as India. Will be required to do layout and design using current company software and other personal computer programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Develop new or modify and/or accurately define existing product designs using current company software such as CAD, FEA, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, etc.
- Uses basic engineering concepts and principles, along with company, commercial, and government standards to provide technical verification for new or modified designs
- Prepare Engineering Change Orders for implementation
- Establish Bills of Material for new or modified products
- Establish test plans to validate new or modified designs, and prepare technical reports upon completion of tests
- Will have project responsibility for improving current and developing new products as assigned. Responsible for completion of the engineering tasks with the technical personnel assigned
- Perform dimensional analysis and product performance calculations independently to support design projects
- Perform layout and design work using current CAD software and computer systems such as spreadsheet databases, word processing, etc.
- Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
- Some travel to the United States required for training and engineering liaison activities
- Will be responsible for moderately sized projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:- BS in Mechanical Engineering; a BS in another engineering discipline is acceptable with the addition of mechanical design experience. MBA is a plus
- Five to eight years of experience in a project engineer and/or design engineer role
- Training on the use of 3D CAD software is required. Solid Works 3D CAD experience is a plus, as is experience with FEA and CFD software
- New product development experience using a stage-gate type development process is required
- Over saw the product development projects through the entire process from concept through launch
- Development experience with pumps is preferred
- Must have design and development experience with industrial rotating equipment
- Must be able to demonstrate project management success, either managing an entire development project or a portion of a development project as part of a larger team
- Experience designing, sizing and/or selecting electric motors for industrial equipment is a plus, as is experience with industrial controls
