Position Description

This position will report to the General Manager of Quality Track Equipment and will be responsible for developing new, and improving existing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviewing and improving design inefficiencies to minimize production or build time

• Producing and implementing designs and testing procedures to ensure compliance with all industry regulations

• Presenting designs to management and clients

• Liaising with suppliers

• Developing products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators, shop supervisors and shop floor mechanics

• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies

• Assuring system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes

• Preparing product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• 4 year college degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)

• Licensed as a Professional Engineer, REQUIRED

• Experience in a railroad equipment manufacturing facility preferred, or 7+ years in a fabrication production shop

• Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD, and SolidWorks programs

• Understanding safety guidelines

• Attention to detail and excellent time management skills

• Analytical and strong problem-solving ability

• The ability to communicate in a professional manner with owner's representatives, coworkers and direct supervisors

• Ability to complete work under time pressure and to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations

• Must be able to lead and work well with others
