POSITION: Plant Engineer
DURATION: Full-time permanent position
LOCATION: Scarborough, ON
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support plant projects, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
- Troubleshoot and optimize equipment and processes to boost reliability and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance for maintenance and operations teams.
- Work with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, cogeneration, HVAC, refrigeration (ammonia/glycol), and utilities.
- Drive energy management, cost reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental standards.
- Be available for occasional after-hours support during production issues or shutdowns.
Requirements:
- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- P.Eng. (or working toward licensure) in Ontario.
- Minimum 3-5 years of plant engineering experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting (chemical, petrochemical, or similar).
- Experience working in hazardous environments is an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of steam/condensate systems, power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, and low/high voltage systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and ERP systems (e.g., JDE).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
