Layout Engineer Intern

As a Layout Engineer Intern at Concrete Strategies, you'll be immersed in the critical aspect of translating design plans into real-world construction. Your role involves mastering the art of precise measurements, spatial alignment, and layout implementation to ensure the accurate placement of structures and components on the construction site.

We are hiring interns for travel positions and project based as well as regionally based. We have regional offices in St. Louis, Kansas City, Des Moines, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Seattle. Our compensation range for interns is: $20-$22/hour.

During your internship, you'll have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to:

• Blueprint Interpretation: Learn to interpret architectural and engineering blueprints, understanding the spatial relationships and dimensions depicted in the plans. Learn to use 2D and 3D CAD models for robotic construction layout.
• Site Preparation: Assist in preparing the construction site for layout activities, ensuring that the area is ready for accurate measurements and positioning.
• Measurement Techniques: Gain expertise in using surveying equipment, laser levels, and other tools to take precise measurements and establish reference points.
• Spatial Alignment: Collaborate with experienced layout engineers to ensure that structures, foundations, and key components align with the design plans.
• Layout Implementation: Participate in translating design dimensions onto the actual construction site, marking key points and lines for construction activities.
• Quality Control: Engage in quality checks to verify the accuracy of layout measurements, ensuring that they adhere to project specifications.
• Coordination: Work closely with project managers and construction teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment during the layout process.
• Problem Solving: Contribute to finding solutions when discrepancies arise between design plans and on-site conditions, helping to maintain project integrity.
• Data Recording: Maintain accurate records of layout activities, measurements, and adjustments made during the construction process.
• Professional Development: Engage in learning opportunities to enhance your understanding of layout engineering techniques and tools.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with construction layout techniques, instruments, and software.
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Total Station, and other relevant tools.
• Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications for accurate layout implementation.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and alignment.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams.
• Willingness to troubleshoot layout challenges and find solutions on-site.
• Collaborative attitude, capable of working closely with other team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Effective time management skills to meet layout deadlines within project schedules.
• Ability to work on construction sites, often requiring standing, walking, and working outdoors.
