Job Summary NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to support the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems for spaceflight hardware and ground support equipment. This role plays a vital part in advancing propulsion technologies, structural systems, and mission-critical components for NASA's exploration programs. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to bring innovative engineering solutions to life.
Essential Job Duties - Design and analyze mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications.
- Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses using simulation tools.
- Support fabrication, integration, and testing of flight and ground hardware.
- Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements.
- Ensure compliance with NASA engineering standards and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to meet mission requirements.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 2 + years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, or testing (aerospace experience preferred); Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX)
- Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and engineering calculations
- Must be a US citizen
Physical Demands - Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to walk short distances.
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items.
- Ability to view a computer terminal.
Skills and Attributes - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
