The Opportunity

We are representing a well-established and highly regarded MEP consultancy with a long-standing presence in the Canadian market. Known for delivering technically complex and sustainability-driven building projects, this firm is expanding its Toronto-based team. As part of a continued growth strategy, they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with specialization in Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design of plumbing and fire protection systems across a range of institutional and commercial building projects
  • Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes and standards, including the Ontario Building Code, National Plumbing Code, and NFPA guidelines
  • Prepare coordinated technical drawings, specifications, and documentation using Revit, AutoCAD, and industry-standard tools
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, to deliver fully integrated design packages
  • Contribute to water efficiency, energy performance, and decarbonization strategies within mechanical system design
  • Participate in internal reviews, quality assurance processes, and mentoring of junior engineers

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment, with a focus on plumbing and fire protection design
  • Strong technical knowledge of water supply, sanitary and storm drainage, fire suppression systems, and code compliance
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and mechanical system design/calculation software
  • Effective communicator with strong coordination and client engagement skills
