Want to lead a team of mechanical engineers focused on both new product development and sustaining engineering at a Fortune 500 Company that turns bold thinking into tangible products? If you have ten plus years of mechanical engineering, product development experience with a validated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, we want to speak with you! We are currently looking for a Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering to join our Innovative Product Development group in Richmond, VA but are open to a remote work arrangement.

What you will be doing:
  • Leading and developing a team of mechanical engineers through all phases of product development.
  • Overseeing the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems and components aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of products that fully meet all defined requirements-including performance, quality, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Collaborating with multi-functional teams to drive product development from concept to launch.
  • Driving continuous improvement in engineering design processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Supporting multi-functional business objectives.
  • Establishing and running functional intellectual property strategies to protect strategic areas.
  • Setting clear performance objectives and conducting regular evaluations that support team development and accountability.

We want you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years in mechanical engineering and product development with validated leadership in multi-functional teams.
  • Strong technical depth combined with strategic business insight to assess risks, uncover opportunities, and get results.
  • Expertise in designing and qualifying small, precision components (injection-molded plastics and cast/stamped metals).
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with design for reliability, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Experience in consumer electronics preferred; medical device background is a plus.
  • Skilled at influencing without direct authority and fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Track record of delivering innovative solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Domestic & some international travel may be required <25%.
