What will you be doing! - Designing mechanical/electrical systems with CAD software.
- Building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.
- Using program data acquisition and control systems such as LabVIEW.
- Contributing to the development of advanced instrumentation technologies.
- Contributing to the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical/electrical equipment.
- Preparing procedures and documentation needed for experiments.
- Communicating with suppliers on the equipment needed for experiments. .
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for: - Education & Experience
- Enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institute of applied arts and technology in a field relevant to the position, such as electrical or mechanical engineering technician/technology, mechatronics, or electromechanical engineering technician/technology or equivalent formal education.
- Some practical work experience in all or part of the following:
- Hands-on experience working in a lab environment.
- Design using AutoDesk Inventor.
- Programming using LabVIEW.
- Design of process mechanical/electrical systems and equipment.
- Process mechanical/electrical instrumentation.
- Fabrication and assembly using hand and power tools.
- Operating and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and diagrams.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- General computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Good organizational skills and initiative.
- Flexibility and adaptability with changing requirements.
- Ability to work under tight schedules and budgets.
- Ability to handle the physical aspects of a laboratory job.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
