Job Description

Mayvin is seeking a highly capable Electrical Engineer to provide engineering, technical, and acquisition support to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) at Ft. Bragg, NC. The selected candidate will support the development, integration, test, evaluation, and sustainment of advanced electrical, electronic, and C5ISR systems critical to SOF mission success. This position requires a strong engineering background, practical hands-on experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting rapid prototyping, fielding, and modernization initiatives.

  • Lead or support requirements development in accordance with JCIDS and SOFCIDS processes for UAS, UGV, autonomous robotics, sensors, payloads, and ISR platforms.
  • Provide electrical engineering expertise for the design, evaluation, integration, and troubleshooting of C5ISR, EW, sensor, communications, and power systems supporting SOF units.
  • Develop and refine schematics, wiring diagrams, power distribution models, signal flow diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Perform system-level integration across air, ground, maritime, and soldier-borne platforms, ensuring interoperability, power requirements, and data interfaces meet mission needs.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to assess electrical load, EMI/EMC, power consumption, system safety, and environmental impacts.
  • Support the planning and execution of laboratory testing, field tests, interoperability assessments, and platform-level demonstrations.
  • Develop test plans, evaluation criteria, test cards, and results documentation in accordance with DoD and USSOCOM engineering standards.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on system failures and provide engineering recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assist with the development of technical requirements, Statements of Work (SOWs), technical evaluations, and source selection inputs.
  • Provide engineering assessments supporting materiel solution analysis, vendor evaluations, and procurement decisions.
  • Prepare and review engineering change proposals (ECPs), configuration management documents, and system lifecycle sustainment plans.
  • Support Program Managers and engineers in the development of cost/schedule estimates and risk assessments for ongoing projects.
  • Provide engineering guidance for system installation, fielding, sustainment, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop or review technical manuals, installation instructions, training materials, and maintenance procedures.
  • Interface with SOF operators, maintainers, and field units to gather operational feedback and identify required improvements.
  • Coordinate with USSOCOM, Service Components, Program Executive Offices, and industry partners to ensure engineering solutions align with SOF modernization goals.
  • Represent the engineering team during technical interchange meetings, design reviews, working groups, and operational planning sessions.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies relevant to SOF missions, including power solutions, sensors, electronic warfare systems, AI-enabled electronics, and ruggedized tactical hardware.

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience (SOF, C5ISR, EW, communications, robotics, aerospace, or defense systems preferred).
  • Strong understanding of electrical design, power distribution, digital/analog electronics, and system integration.
  • Experience creating or reviewing engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience testing and evaluating military or ruggedized tactical systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable DoD, MIL-STD, and industry standards.
  • Ability to perform engineering analyses and provide detailed technical recommendations to government leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting USSOCOM, USASOC, AFSOC, or other SOF components.
  • Experience with UAS, radios, sensors, EW systems, power systems, or autonomous robotics.
  • Knowledge of acquisition processes including JCIDS, SOFCIDS, RDT&E, and rapid prototyping pathways.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as MATLAB, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar software.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering.
