Field Engineer

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our Wilmington, NC office. This entry-level position supports our Superintendents and field leadership in the daily coordination of on-site operations. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, contribute, and grow into a future leader - The Clancy Way.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Superintendent and field supervisory team with day-to-day on-site operations and coordination.
  • Represent Clancy & Theys on the jobsite, helping ensure construction methods, procedures, and safety standards are consistently followed.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, reports, and field records.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams and external partners to support effective project execution and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Assist with virtual design and construction (VDC) coordination to ensure field activities align with design intent.
  • Support preconstruction activities such as planning, scheduling, and estimating project needs.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders, including internal departments, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Support the safety program by following all established safety practices and reporting any hazards or incidents immediately.

Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Foundational understanding of construction processes, terminology, and field operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a positive, "ready-to-learn" attitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction management software and platforms such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking abilities to support a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and trade partners.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite.
