Position Overview: As a tool design checker you will review and validate engineering designs for manufacturing tools and equipment. You will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of technical drawings, schematics, and computer-aided design (CAD) models with industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Check technical documentation: Perform a thorough review of CAD models to identify and rectify errors, omissions, and inconsistencies.
Ensure compliance: Verify that designs adhere to industry standards (e.G., ISO, NAAMS, ASME Y14.5), company specifications, and best practices for manufacturing.
Confirm dimensional accuracy: Consult for and confirm proper geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), angles, radii, and other dimensions.
Review bill of materials (BOM): Validate the accuracy and completeness of the BOM, ensuring all materials and components are correctly specified.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
A final U.S. Secret Clearance is required prior to acceptance of this position.
Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
5+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors OR 3+ years of work-related experience with a Masters OR work-related experience with a PhD
CAD software proficiency: You must be proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, with specific experience in applications like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, or Creo.
Blueprint interpretation: The ability to read, understand, and interpret complex engineering and 3D models
GD&T knowledge: Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is often required to check for compliance with industry standards like ASME.
Quality assurance: Experience with quality control processes, tools, and best practices is needed to identify and document design issues.
Standard compliance: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.G., ISO) related to tool design and manufacturing is necessary.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working closely with a cross functional engineering team
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years'related work experience (e.G. PhD, Master+3 years'related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
