Project Engineer II

Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Project Engineer is responsible for managing part and tool launch through APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process to meet customer requirements including regular status communication with customers and maintenance of all related systems data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide overall project leadership for new business projects, engineering changes and tool replacements
  • Ensure timely processing of Project Engineering functions and quick escalation of issues
  • Establish complete project timelines in coordination with resource and capacity limitations
  • Send customer communications to meet goal of weekly project communications to customers on each project
  • Assist with maintenance of project metrics, standards and systems
  • Assist with improvement of Project Engineering processes for cost, quality, delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Support maintenance of Project Engineering standards and systems
  • Other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; or minimum of 5 years Project Engineering experience
  • Prior experience in stamping, fabrication or other relevant manufacturing preferred
  • General computer and MS Office proficiency required
  • 3D CAD knowledge desired but not required, SolidWorks preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints; understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects with high attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g. Gantt charts) required
  • Familiarity with APQP process preferred, working knowledge required within 6 months

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
