Controls Engineer
Location: Buffalo, New York, 14207
Schedule: 100% Onsite
- Assigned to one shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), with 2-3 weekend shifts per month and expectation of 50 hours/week.
- Must be willing to work more than one shift
Travel: Up to 20% (approx. 6 times/year, mainly to Michigan for project support)
Pay Rate: Up to $43/hour, depending on experience and chosen benefits
Summary The Industrial Engineer 2 will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes. This includes human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. The role is focused on increasing productivity through effective management of people, business organization methods, and technology.
Key Responsibilities - Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives.
- Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
- Recommend improvements for utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
- Plan and establish sequence of operations for fabrication and assembly to promote efficiency.
- Apply statistical methods and perform calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.
- Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize reliability, and minimize cost.
- Estimate production costs and assess the impact of product design changes.
- Draft and design layouts of equipment, materials, and workspace for maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer software.
Required Skills & Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred) or related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (non-negotiable).
- Experience in Standard Time Data analysis (training provided for methodologies/software).
- Project management experience (practical experience preferred; formal certification not required).
- Strong creativity, communication (verbal and written), analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player, detail-oriented, and energetic.
- Basic ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and computations.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Familiarity with business and management principles (strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods).
- Previous experience with engineering software (MS Visual Basic, MS Project, ABAQUS).
Work Environment & Team Structure - Will work with a dozen other industrial engineers, collaborating with production, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Will have a lead and own a department.
- Expected to be hands-on with AutoCAD and project management.
- Energetic, process-driven candidates preferred.
- Candidates with strong behaviors, willingness to learn, and great communication skills may be considered even with less experience.
