About the RoleExecuPOWER is seeking a highly experienced Distribution Engineer (Owner's Engineer) to provide senior-level technical oversight and quality assurance for electric distribution design projects. This role is responsible for ensuring all distribution engineering deliverables meet utility standards, safety requirements, engineering best practices, and contractual obligations.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in overhead and underground distribution systems, strong field knowledge, and a proven ability to review, validate, and guide complex designs. This position serves as a technical authority, supporting engineering teams through mentorship, cross-department collaboration, and rigorous quality control.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that all distribution design deliverables-including drawings, calculations, staking sheets, and construction packages-meet utility standards, internal quality expectations, and contractual requirements.
- Confirm adherence to utility construction standards, safety requirements, engineering best practices, and applicable codes.
- Review markups, redlines, and QC checklists to ensure design completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
- Verify compliance with utility maintenance and upgrade programs for overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Identify design discrepancies and clearly communicate corrective actions to engineering and drafting teams.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance across distribution projects to support consistent, high-quality outcomes.
- Mentor and technically support engineers and designers across engineering and drafting functions.
- Participate in cross-department reviews to align distribution designs with management expectations and project goals.
Qualifications- 15+ years of experience in electric distribution design.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
Required Skills- Strong mastery of overhead and underground distribution design, load calculations, and protective devices.
- Extensive field knowledge and understanding of construction standards and safety practices.
- Expertise with engineering and design tools such as EFD and AutoCAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in documenting and resolving design issues.
- Proven ability to mentor and support technical staff.
- Experience working across departments to support quality, consistency, and operational alignment.
