Job Description

SUMMARY: The Supervisor of Engineering Services is responsible for the engineering data, instructions, documents, and technical support that economically ensures the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of VSE Aviation Services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, assigning and prioritizing tasks based on maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to provide technical support and ensure cross-department cooperation.
  • Delegate projects to engineers, ensuring alignment with production goals and customer priorities.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to engineering staff.
  • Oversee engineering support for line, base, and heavy maintenance checks.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and approve engineering dispositions.
  • Review and sign off on engineering documents, including EOs, Repair Instructions, and Technical Variances.
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations (FAA Part 145, Part 43, EASA Part 145, etc.) for all engineering activities and documentation submitted to regulatory authorities.
  • Plan engineering support for scheduled maintenance and special projects, ensuring adequate staffing and resources.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Act as liaison between engineering, quality assurance, production, planning, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with OEMs for technical support and deviations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, repair efficiency, and technical accuracy.
  • Lead investigations into technical delays, rework, or engineering errors, implementing root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., FAA, EASA, AS9110).
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics or a related field,

- or an additional 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience,

-including and 3 years of leadership experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications
  • Knowledge in Aircraft systems, structures, avionics, OEM manuals, regulatory
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, cross-functional communication.
  • Knowledge of FAA, EASA, ICAO regulations (Part 145, Part 25, etc.)
  • Familiar with AMOS, TRAX, OASES, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Project

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in the relevant engineering field.
  • 9+ years of Engineering work experience
  • 6+ years in the aviation industry
  • 4+ years in a supervisory position

OTHER:

Travel is required, depending on business/ project needs
