Position Summary

We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations group within the Sensor Business Unit, with a primary focus on driving cost reduction, manufacturing efficiency, and scalable process improvements across new and existing products. In this role, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to support design-for-manufacturing efforts, improve yields,

and implement sustainable manufacturing solutions in a collaborative environment that values ownership and continuous improvement. You'll have a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on Banner's operational performance and long-term growth. This position reports to an Industrial Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration and Cross Function Work

    • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and NPD teams
    • Work closely with operators and technicians on the factory floor to understand process challenges and implement practical, sustainable improvements
    • Use workflow toolsets and PTC Creo to specify and provide assembly fixtures and automation
    • Work with the engineering team on manufacturability (DFM) effort for new product developments
    • Participate in cross-functional design reviews, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Critically analyze new product concepts and provide constructive feedback for assembly requirements and constraints
    • Work with the engineering team to incorporate preferred assembly methods and critical part features that are necessary to achieve yield and cost targets
    • Lead Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) sessions and proactively reduce and eliminate the causes of defects on new product introductions
    • Complete a manufacturing process plan to facilitate Lean manufacturing, and single piece flow error-proof manufacturing
    • Create labor estimates, time standards, assembly drawings, routings, and procedural documentation
    • Manage preproduction engineering builds and the manufacturing release process

Process Development and Improvement

    • Interpret production metrics and assess process performance to prioritize efforts to increase quality, yield, and efficiency in a high-mix manufacturing environment
    • Analyze existing production lines, find bottlenecks and waste, and design better workflows and methods
    • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to manage projects independently
    • Ability to analyze manufacturing data, perform root cause analysis, and execute design of experiments (DOE)
    • Conduct time studies to establish accurate labor standards, effectively balance the production line, and reallocate labor where opportunities exist
    • Develop and maintain accurate plant-specific assembly documentation, work instructions, and process standards
    • Lead initiatives to improve safety, reduce waste, and optimize workflows
    • Research and identify new production technologies to support cost and quality initiatives in the plants
    • Hands-on experience designing, building, and validating manufacturing fixtures that improve assembly efficiency, quality, and process repeatability

Required

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in PTC ProE, Creo, or other similar solid modeling tools.
  • Understanding designing, developing, and validating manufacturing fixtures to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability
  • Srong applied statistical skills to analyze manufacturing data, identify process variation, and drive continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of fabrication processes such as plastic injection molding, machining, and metal forming.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly and manufacturing
  • Experience developing, improving, and troubleshooting assembly processes on the production floor
  • Proven problem-solving skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues
  • Comfortable collaborating with operators, technicians, engineers and cross-functional teams to improve quality and yield
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priorities.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to our manufacturing facilities in South Dakota, and possibly Mexico.

Preferred

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with design, production, quality, and industrial engineering teams.
  • Experience with one or more manufacturing process technologies such as ultrasonic welding, potting, injection molding, adhesive dispensing, automation, or similar assembly processes.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design, and support the development of manufacturing fixtures that improve efficiency, quality, and process repeatability.
  • Working knowledge of data-driven problem-solving tools including Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Gage R&R.
  • Experience specifying, deploying, and supporting manufacturing equipment and automation solutions.
  • Ability to identify, recommend, and advocate for part and process design features required to achieve production cost, yield, and scalability targets.
  • Familiarity with one or more of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, data-driven analysis and decision-making

Pay Range: $80,161 - $113,092.75

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
