Your Opportunity

We are seeking a driven and motivated individual to join our team as a Transportation Engineering-in-Training. Our growing Transportation Planning and Engineering team within Stantec's Winnipeg office has an opportunity for a Transportation EIT join our dynamic group of transportation professionals. We serve local municipal, provincial, and rural clients in Manitoba, while also offering an opportunity to work on projects with other offices throughout Canada.

This position requires an individual to have transportation analysis, engineering, and planning skills, as well as strong collaboration and communication skills. These skills may be called upon to execute a variety of tasks including data collection and analysis, traffic simulation, field investigations, drawing review, proposal and work plan preparation, report development, and coordination with other disciplines and team resources.

You can expect to work on a broad range of projects, including traffic analysis and simulation, transportation planning, transit planning, multimodal facility design, active transportation studies, road safety, parking studies, and airport planning.

Above all, the successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and curious, be able to multitask, ask questions to continually improve, and learn from feedback.

Your Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of a Transportation EIT are varied by may include:
  • Analysis and summary of data, including traffic data, census data, ridership data, collision records, performance monitoring resources, and other emerging data sources.
  • Field investigations related to traffic operations, geometric design, Human Factors, road safety, and transit.
  • GIS data manipulation, as well as map creation and analysis.
  • Assisting with public engagement events and workshops.
  • Technical writing.
  • Report layout and editing, including the development of transportation planning projects, studies, and reports.
  • Planning and/or design duties, as needed.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong research skills and open to feedback
  • Self-motivated and highly organized
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office365 Suite (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Synchro, PTV Vistro, and PTV Vissim is highly desirable
  • Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software is desirable
  • Experience with Adobe software
  • Comprehensive approach to challenges and problem-solving
  • Registered (or eligible to register) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to provide a driver's abstract for review.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (specialty/electives in Transportation Engineering)
  • 0 - 4 years of related work experience. Candidates currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with an anticipated Spring 2026 graduation date are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with City of Winnipeg and Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure projects is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Autodesk, Adobe, and Bluebeam; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and strong knowledge of field-related guidelines.

This position will require a mix of field and office work. Field work may consist of installing and monitoring automatic traffic counting equipment, site visits, and site reviews. Typical office environment will require working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time. Flexibility to work from the office or from home. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
