We are looking for an
Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team at ANC in Whitecourt, AB. This position is
ideal for an early-career engineer with prior project management skills who enjoys coordinating projects, managing timelines, and ensuring successful execution of mechanical upgrades and maintenance initiatives. This role will be directly involved in both
capital projects and
maintenance support, helping to improve plant performance, reliability, and safety.
Responsibilities & Duties- Lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion, including budgeting, planning, and scheduling.
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for equipment installation and upgrades.
- Support capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the mill.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and APEGA codes and standards.
- Other duties, as required.
What you will bring to the role:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- 3+ years' experience in mechanical engineering, with exposure to project management in an industrial setting.
- Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) is required.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interest in mechanical systems, process industries, and continuous improvement.
- Co-op or internship experience in an industrial or manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- General proficiency with Microsoft Suite of applications.
