Position OverviewWe are seeking an
Assistant Engineering Technician to support electrical substation design projects. This is an entry-level to early-career drafting role ideal for candidates with 1-2 years of experience in electrical drafting using AutoCAD.
Under close supervision, you will provide technical support to engineering teams by assisting with the creation and modification of electrical drawings and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities - Assist in developing and modifying electrical substation drawings
- Support preparation of schematics, wiring diagrams, and site layouts (experience preferred)
- Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD for drafting and design work
- Assist with maintaining technical documentation and project deliverables
- Perform basic material quantity takeoffs and dimensional checks
- Support coordination of deliverables with other disciplines
- Follow engineering standards, document control processes, and quality procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay current with drafting tools, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications - 1-2 years of drafting experience
- Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD
- Basic understanding of electrical design principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work onsite in the Leawood/Overland Park, KS area
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with electrical substation drafting
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and site layouts
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation (plus)
- Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting or Engineering Technology
