This role focuses on designing and implementing high-power electrical systems for industrial heating facilities. The engineer will manage projects from design through field commissioning, working with electrode-based systems connected to transformers ranging from 100kW to 10MW.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engineer low-voltage power distribution architectures including distribution panels, localized circuits, control enclosures, motor feeds, and step-down transformer networks
  • Generate single-line schematics, load calculations, cable routing schedules, and demolition documentation
  • Perform coordination studies, capacity analysis, fault current calculations, and arc flash hazard assessments with appropriate safety labeling
  • Develop comprehensive material lists and equipment specifications for designed distribution systems
  • Execute conductive modeling using steady-state water bath simulations
  • Oversee field installation activities and manage third-party electrical contractors
  • Conduct on-site system commissioning and startup procedures
  • Engage with clients to establish project parameters, refine operational workflows, and enhance service delivery
  • Prepare scope-of-work documentation alongside engineering assessments, material budgets, and construction cost projections
  • Ensure technical precision and buildability of completed engineering deliverables
  • Architect control system functionality, establish initial conceptual frameworks, set drafting standards, and conduct thorough design verification reviews
  • Travel approximately 3 months annually in 4-6 day intervals for field assignments involving physically demanding conditions, including elevated ambient temperatures and equipment handling tasks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, OR Associate's degree/technical school completion combined with minimum 5 years relevant field experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical design fundamentals
  • Proficiency in current National Electrical Code standards
  • Demonstrated capability with coordination studies, load analysis, capacity planning, and fault current evaluations
  • Self-directed problem-solving ability with strong foundational grasp of electrical theory
  • Willingness to engage in field environments with physical demands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD version 2010 or newer
  • Background in control systems design
  • Experience within industrial manufacturing facilities
  • Familiarity with electrode-based heating systems or industrial thermal boost applications
  • Prior exposure to high-power transformer specification and application
