Position OverviewThis role focuses on designing and implementing high-power electrical systems for industrial heating facilities. The engineer will manage projects from design through field commissioning, working with electrode-based systems connected to transformers ranging from 100kW to 10MW.
Core Responsibilities: - Engineer low-voltage power distribution architectures including distribution panels, localized circuits, control enclosures, motor feeds, and step-down transformer networks
- Generate single-line schematics, load calculations, cable routing schedules, and demolition documentation
- Perform coordination studies, capacity analysis, fault current calculations, and arc flash hazard assessments with appropriate safety labeling
- Develop comprehensive material lists and equipment specifications for designed distribution systems
- Execute conductive modeling using steady-state water bath simulations
- Oversee field installation activities and manage third-party electrical contractors
- Conduct on-site system commissioning and startup procedures
- Engage with clients to establish project parameters, refine operational workflows, and enhance service delivery
- Prepare scope-of-work documentation alongside engineering assessments, material budgets, and construction cost projections
- Ensure technical precision and buildability of completed engineering deliverables
- Architect control system functionality, establish initial conceptual frameworks, set drafting standards, and conduct thorough design verification reviews
- Travel approximately 3 months annually in 4-6 day intervals for field assignments involving physically demanding conditions, including elevated ambient temperatures and equipment handling tasks
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, OR Associate's degree/technical school completion combined with minimum 5 years relevant field experience
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical design fundamentals
- Proficiency in current National Electrical Code standards
- Demonstrated capability with coordination studies, load analysis, capacity planning, and fault current evaluations
- Self-directed problem-solving ability with strong foundational grasp of electrical theory
- Willingness to engage in field environments with physical demands
Preferred Qualifications - Proficiency in AutoCAD version 2010 or newer
- Background in control systems design
- Experience within industrial manufacturing facilities
- Familiarity with electrode-based heating systems or industrial thermal boost applications
- Prior exposure to high-power transformer specification and application
