Description Your role at GEI. Our Atlanta, Georgia office is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer to add technical, project management, and business development expertise to our growing dam and water control practice. The ideal candidate will provide high level technical support to our current industry experts and clients, bring new business to GEI, while also helping mentor and guide our team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with one or more of the following: flood control structures (i.e. dams, spillways, levees, floodwalls, etc.); stormwater management and design; or floodplain management. The desired professional must possess strong leadership and communication skills and be proficient in report and proposal writing, presentations, and business development. There is flexibility with a hybrid work schedule as part of this position.
Minimum Qualifications: - B.S. or M.S. degree in either Water Resources, Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering license required (preferably in Georgia or a surrounding state).
- 20+ years progressive experience in engineering with extensive technical background in field of expertise and at least 5+ years in project management and client relationship management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following, with advanced technical skills in at least one of the following: municipal and state contracts; floodplain regulations and management; FEMA levee accreditation, inspection, or design; FERC hydropower inspections, design, and compliance; state or municipal dam inspections, design, and compliance; hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and modeling; or stormwater management, master planning, or design.
- Experience preparing high quality proposal documents.
- Experience managing projects and/or a team of people.
- Well established relationships with local and regional agencies and clients in the southeastern US.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically.

- Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams. Experience with GIS, CAD, MS Project, and other technical analysis software is a plus.

- Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to be adaptive, creative, and bring inventive solutions to projects and problems.

Preferred Qualification - Familiarity with Georgia and Southeastern U.S. (Alabama, Florida, Mississippi or South Carolina) state regulations, federal, and local regulatory and permitting requirements.
- Experience with USEPA SWMM, HEC-RAS (both 1D and 2D versions) and HEC-HMS modeling software.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, with ability to analyze/convert surfaces, particularly to support hydraulic and hydrologic modeling program demands.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and development of state and federal permit documents including USACE 408 Permitting and USACE 404 Permitting.
