NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one (1) Civil Engineering - Lead position working with the projects team. Initially, this role will have regular travel to our Corporate Office in Toronto and periodic trips to the assigned Project. This role will transition to an on-site rotational work schedule during the assigned Project's construction phase. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia. Following the Project's construction phase at Goldboro, this role may have the opportunity to transition to operations at Goldboro or may be assigned to the Project team at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future.
The Civil Engineering Lead will apply knowledge of civil engineering and design principles and practices to the Project Site. The position will ensure that high quality, fit-for-purpose, and regulatory and permit compliant engineering and designs are provided by engineering consultants working on the project.

Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the development of civil engineering specifications and construction drawings on behalf of the project owners' team
- Developing 3D models with the support of project engineering consultants
- Coordinating work with other engineering disciplines and service providers
- Supporting construction planning and scheduling
- Identifying and mitigating project risks
- Monitoring and facilitating progress and performance of engineering service providers
- Identify opportunities for design improvements that could benefit project cost and schedule
- Ensure engineering service providers comply with approved design criteria and specifications
- Ensure compliance with project quality requirements
- Review and approve quality control plans provided by construction contractors
- Review, comment and approve engineering deliverables including calculations, specifications and drawings submitted by engineering consultants
- Provide input to NexGold weekly, monthly and quarterly project reports and presentations.
- Participate in the development of project documents including the package register, project schedule, scope of facilities, capital, and operating cost estimates.

- Occasional regional travel (i.e., day trips to communities surrounding the Project sites)
- Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Structural Engineering;
- 10 years' experience in a similar role;
- Experience in the engineering and design for civil infrastructure on Canadian Mines, including water management ponds, water conveyance structures (swales, ditches, pipelines), Tailings Management Facilities, Haul Roads, water crossings, including culverts and bridges.
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and engage a team;
- Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Valid driver's license;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; and
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Nova Scotia with the ability to register in Ontario
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in using AutoDesk Civil 3D
Role Details:
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. During construction phase, schedule will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).
Work Arrangements: Hybrid with periodic travel to the assigned Project site and regular travel to the Corporate Office in Toronto, if the incumbent does not live in Toronto. During the construction phase, work arrangements will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).

Compensation: Competitive compensation package including base salary range of $160,000-$185,000 annually, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience. Eligible for discretionary short-term incentive program.
