HGA is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support public works and Infrastructure projects in North Carolina and other states across the US. This role leads civil design efforts, performs technical calculations, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, oversees third-party subcontractors and construction teams and supports project delivery from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities - Lead civil engineering design activities for public works and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate project design tasks, including calculations, plans, and field investigations.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and staffing plans based on requirements.
- Prepare and review civil engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documents for accuracy.
- Support or review construction budgets aligned with project scope and engineering judgment.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients, engineers, internal design teams, contractors, and third-party specialty groups to ensure schedule and budget alignment.
- Conduct field assessments and collect site information as needed.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in public works and infrasturcture project environments.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design codes, standards, and project execution practices.
- Proficiency in generating civil design calculations and supporting engineering documentation.
- Experience in engineering design and construction project environments.
- Strong communication, project coordination, and client?relationship skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Windows, and Word.
- Experience with AutoCAD 3D or similar civil design software preferred.
- Ideally located within daily commuting distance of Bakersville, NC but candidates local to other HGA offices or Hybrid may be considered.
