Engineer (EIT)

Job Description

Gateway Mechanical Services is seeking a motivated Engineer in Training (EIT) to support our Design-Build and Quality Control (QC) teams. This role offers a unique balance of technical engineering design and rigorous quality management, providing a clear path toward professional licensure under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Support: Assist with thermal/fluid analysis, create P&IDs and layouts using AutoCAD, and support the preparation of technical estimates and proposals.
  • Quality Control: Review field reports, manage project turnover packages (ITPs), and ensure compliance with provincial codes (CSA B51/B52 and ASME B31).
  • Project Execution: Conduct site visits for field measurements, assist the Project Management Office (PMO) with documentation, and participate in project turnover meetings.
  • Compliance: Manage permit applications for pressure piping and disposition project nonconformities under P.Eng. supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional Status: Registered (or eligible for registration) as an EIT in a Canadian province.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to interpret construction drawings/schematics; proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Attributes: Innate desire to learn with strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail for document control and code compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and pressure piping systems, preferably refrigeration or HVAC.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools is an asset.
  • Familiarity with CSA B51, CSA B52, and ASME B31 series codes is an asset but can be learned in role.

Note: Travel up to 25% may be required
