Job Description: CNC Programming Engineer (Direct Hire) - South Bend, IN

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and experience with Mazak is a must. This role involves developing and optimizing CNC machining processes for various manufacturing projects, ensuring high-quality production standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic environment that values innovation, precision, and technical excellence.

Schedule:
  • 1st Shift, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Starting Rate:
  • $80,000/yr. - $95,000/yr.+ (potentially higher depending on relevant work experience)

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for the Mazak Integrex, CNC Lathes, and CNC Mills.
  • Create and maintain programs using Mastercam
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical schematics to ensure accurate machining processes.
  • Utilize CAD software such as SolidWorks and CATIA to design parts and prepare models for manufacturing.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining parameters to meet project specifications while adhering to lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments to verify part accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or machine performance; implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, tooling configurations, and process parameters for quality control and repeatability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing process data and implementing lean manufacturing techniques.

Qualifications:
  • 5 years of Mazak programming
  • 5 years of Mastercam
  • Proven experience with CNC programming on Fanuc controls; familiarity with CNC lathe and CNC milling machines is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in Mastercam
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing standards.
  • Mechanical knowledge including tooling selection, geometry considerations, and the use of precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, and schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
  • Strong math skills relevant to machining operations including geometry calculations.
