About the RoleExecuPOWER is seeking a
Distribution Engineer I to support the design and development of electric distribution systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineering professional to gain hands-on experience in utility design, fieldwork, and client-facing projects.
In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers to develop design drawings, perform field assessments, and ensure all deliverables meet client standards, safety requirements, and project objectives.
What You'll DoEngineering & Design Support- Prepare and revise design, construction, and as-built drawings using CAD, GIS, MicroStation, and related tools
- Interpret and apply client standards to design drawings and material specifications
- Assist in developing bills of materials and supporting documentation
Field & Data Collection- Perform field surveys to identify and document existing utility infrastructure
- Accurately translate field conditions into engineering designs and drawings
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data within company and client systems
Project Execution & Compliance- Ensure all work aligns with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Follow established quality control processes and safe work practices
- Differentiate and interpret color-coded plans and technical drawings
Travel & Field Work- Travel to client sites as required
- Support storm response and emergency restoration efforts as needed
What You BringRequired Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, CAD, Applied Science, or related field
- Knowledge of drafting standards, practices, and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings
- Experience with drafting software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, PowerDraft, PLS-CADD, or ESRI GIS
- Basic math and engineering calculation skills (geometry, algebra, scaling, clearances, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with GIS systems
- Exposure to electric utility or distribution design projects
Work Environment & Requirements- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, holidays, and storm response situations
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Ability to work around energized equipment, in confined spaces, and in industrial settings
- Commitment to following all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
