Today Hodge Foundry specializes in highly engineered complex Grey and Ductile Iron castings and is the only foundry in North America capable of casting parts from 60,000 to 200,000 pounds. Hodge Foundry continues to supply castings for the global markets of mining, power generation, gas compression, heavy industrial equipment, and infrastructure.

POSITION SUMMARYProvides administrative and technical support to the Engineering Dept. and manufacturing operations.Contributes to reducing scrap and cost reduction through the application of engineering principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Meets the Engineering schedule
- Completes/edits & reviews manufacturing write-ups with attention to detail and minimal error. Anticipates problems and offers possible solutions.
- Follows engineering work instructions and quality procedures.
- Reviews casting drawings and in the creation of a manufacturing plan.
- Works with pattern vendors, customers, and perspective customers to answer questions, which pertain to foundry engineering. Travel to customer site as necessary.
- Complete assigned projects. Provide assistance to the manager on projects requiring special engineering review.
- Attend training sessions and assignments to other departments as required for training purposes.
- Under direction of manager, use solid modeling program to reduce scrap due to shrinkage and other casting defects.
- Use AutoCAD to create accurate sketches for the manufacturing write-up.
- Effectively communicates with other departments.
- Communicates professionally with internal and external customers.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement/lean/6 Sigma principles
Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's degree in a technical degree required typically ME, MET, or IE. Coursework including introduction to Foundry principles, practices and modeling.
- Experience in heavy industry or manufacturing helpful but not required
- 0 - 5 years Foundry specific Engineering experience helpful but not required

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS - Certification by a recognized Engineering society or association such as the Society for Manufacturing Engineers SME encouraged but not required.
