Position Overview

A growing engineering firm is seeking a Structural Engineer Intern (EI) to support bridge, transportation, and building projects. This role is ideal for an EI with hands-on structural design experience who is eager to work on both transportation structures and building systems in a collaborative, quality-driven environment.

The Structural Engineer Intern will assist with the design and preparation of construction documents, calculations, and specifications for a wide range of structural projects-from miscellaneous structures to complex bridge and building designs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare construction plans for bridges and other transportation-related structures using MicroStation
  • Develop construction plans for new buildings and renovations to existing structures using Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • Produce calculation packages, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Review construction documents, including shop drawings and contractor requests
  • Coordinate tasks and provide technical support to junior or supporting staff
  • Participate in rigorous QA/QC and plan review processes
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Engineer Intern (EI) registration (required)
  • Approximately 2 years of structural design experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MicroStation (required)
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with solid skills in:
    • Structural analysis
    • Steel design
    • Concrete design for transportation and building structures
  • Broad understanding of structural engineering principles and practices
