Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under close supervision, performs engineering-related assignments as part of a cross-functional team. This may include learning and using various instruments and different software to assist engineers and designers on tests related to the design, performance, or failure of company products.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. As appropriate, learn to use Instron machine, CRV/noise tester, or other electrical/mechanical testers to assist engineers and designers in project tasks.
2. Work with engineering and marketing to learn the specifics of component design, manufacturing and marketing.
3. Assist engineers and test lab personnel in testing required for development and proof of design integrity.
4. Learn to analyze test results and makes charts/graphs out of testing data.
5. Assist engineers in the preparation of specifications, estimates or reports needed to manage a program through development.
6. Assist in maintaining engineering records.
7. Assist in ongoing division programs or initiatives as needed.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must be able to participate in team projects.
COMMUNICATIONS: Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Possess ability to produce written communications, prepare reports and documentation that are clear and concise.
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING: Must be able to work to the schedule described in a project plan.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of one year of college from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Engineering required.
EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to perform the above functions. Prior work assignments in engineering-related activities preferred.
OTHER SKILLS: AutoCAD and Pro-E training and/or other manufacturing software a plus.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Telephone, personal computer, and various lab test equipment.
