Process EngineerNitta Gelatin, a leading multi-site manufacturing company, is looking for a Process Engineer in our Toronto ON Canada location.
This position will be responsible for Design, operation, documentation, control, improvement, optimization and intensification of processes in the gelatin plant. This position reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for investigation and troubleshooting production/quality related issues in Nitta Gelatin Canada Inc, including arrangement of NCRs
- Responsible for any projects, assigned by the Engineering Supervisor, for any process improvement, optimization and translating the needs of customers into production in Nitta gelatin Canada including arrangement of PCRs and assignment required works to the maintenance/production supervisors, with the Engineering supervisor's approval.
- Responsible for planning/proposing process improvement/optimization project as directed by the Engineering supervisor, including occasionally submitting RINGI's
- Responsible for monitoring the process daily, investigating process anomalies and implementing corrective actions to restore the process to steady state.
- Responsible for communication with employees in technical department of Nitta Gelatin Inc. and arrangement any tasks requested by them with the Engineering supervisor
- Performs testing in laboratory and gelatin plant in Nitta gelatin Canada related to investigation, troubleshooting, and improvement of gelatin process
- Assists in investigation and troubleshooting customer related issues.
- Arrange appropriate training & support documentation so handover to production & maintenance is seamless.
- Ensuring a high level of Health & Safety, and Food Safety during the execution of projects and supporting facility ISO 9001 Standards.
- Attend meetings with Ministry of Environment officers and provide updates to site work as requested.
- Identify cost reductions, performance improvements, safety enhancements. Assist with budget development, timelines, and other engineering functions as needed.
- Must follow food safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
EDUCATION REQUIREDBachelor's degree in chemical engineering or applied science.
TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE - 2 years' experience in Manufacturing, especially food manufacturing.
- 1-2 years' minimum experience in Process Engineering
- 2 years' experience of Scientific nature of gelatin and the raw material is preferred but not required
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- 2 years minimum experience Using AutoCAD preferred
- 2 years' minimum experience Using process flow diagrams and P&IDs preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - Gelatin or food/ingredient processing experience preferred but not required
