Job Description

The Mechanical R&D Engineer II - Sports Medicine will perform engineering duties in designing and developing medical devices. Carries out engineering assignments that are broad in nature and require appreciable originality and ingenuity. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures using judgment to solve difficult technical challenges.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plans and performs engineering assignments, including responsibility for engineering part of a major project, or performing project management and supportive development for a minor project.
  • Conducts each assignment based on broader team input and customer needs.
  • Translates, develops and documents engineering specifications based on user needs and design inputs.
  • Ability to write and advise others of testing requirements, including development and execution or testing protocols and reports.
  • Create models and drawings in SolidWorks to meet design specifications.
  • Ability to create and check design specifications through feasibility, verification, and validation efforts.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures using judgment to solve difficult technical challenges, including product and feature testing in a lab environment.
  • Ability to conduct root-cause investigation and recommend corrective action for design issues in existing products.
  • Accepts engineering assignments that are broad in nature and require further definition usually requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity.
  • Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
  • Facilitate changes within a design control system.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Collaborative quick prototyping with model shop to evaluate design concepts or iterations.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Engineering, Biomedical or Mechanical engineering
  • 2 years of engineering experience preferably in R&D

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with material testing
  • Demonstrated mechanical design experience
  • Experience developing medical device products.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability.
  • Proficient in Computer Aided Design and office software applications.
  • Knowledge in Design principles, engineering concepts
