Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Design & Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the execution and development of next-generation front lighting systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of headlamps, Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), and turn signals-from initial CAD packaging and software logic to final vehicle validation. You will serve as the primary technical interface between interior EE teams, body controllers, and global lighting suppliers to ensure seamless system integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Development: Define truth tables, function maps, and software implementation for front lighting features in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Validation & Testing: Lead validation activities across multiple platforms, including EE Plywood Bucks, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, and full vehicle validation at assembly plants.
  • Project Management: Act as the lead DRE to manage the development, integration, and compliance of front lighting ECUs and electrical interfaces.
  • Technical Collaboration: Support communication protocols (CAN/LIN) and interface directly with Body Controller and EE teams to ensure system harmony.
  • Regulatory Support: Manage CO2 credit calculations for LED systems to meet regulatory affairs requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with Architecture, Vehicle Concepts, and Program teams to ensure on-time delivery and successful vehicle launches.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in automotive design and release (DRE), specifically with lighting systems or complex plastic/electrical assemblies.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with injection molding, painting, and decorative processes for automotive components.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and standard validation planning.
  • Communication: Proven ability to lead cross-functional meetings and collaborate effectively across North American engineering teams.

Preferred Skills & Tools
  • Software: Proficiency in Catia V5, NX, and Teamcenter.
  • Electrical Systems: Hands-on experience with CAN/LIN communication protocols and EE architecture.
  • Materials: Specific experience in headlamp assembly and plastic injection molded part design.
