Description

Responsibilities include designing overhead crane power distribution, variable frequency drives, controls, collision-avoidance systems, weighing systems, operator pendants, and radio control interfaces using AutoCAD Electrical Schematic to produce schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and service documentation.

Requirements

1. Design electrical systems by selecting, developing, and testing components.

2. Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research and applying knowledge of electricity, mechanics, and materials.

3. Confirm the mechanical and electrical systems and components' capabilities and compatibility by determining reproduceable testing methods.

4. Develop electrical products by studying customer requirements and researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.

5. Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components and by soliciting observations from operators.

6. Assure product quality by designing electrical testing methods and testing finished products and system capabilities.

7. Prepare product performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

8. Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.

9. Maintain product and company reputation by complying with CMMA guidelines, governmental, federal, and state regulations.

10. Keep equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures and requesting repair service.

11. Maintain product database by query, merging, and entering data.

12. Complete projects by training and guiding technicians.

13. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.

Education:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; some college experience preferred
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline. In the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in a crane industry role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.

Experience & Skills:
  • Crane industry and PLC experience is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of CMAA standards and specifications
  • Knowledgeable of Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc. PLCs
  • Knowledgeable of sensory technologies Laser, Radar, LIDAR, Ultrasonic, Scanners, Vision, etc.
  • Able to work at elevated heights
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, drug screen and E-verify

Skills:
  • Knowledgeable of designing for UL, NEC, CE, and NFPA compliance
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office products
  • Proficient with ANSI Drafting Standards
  • Proficient with Variable Frequency Drive systems
  • Proficient with Delta and Wye 3 Phase power distribution and branch circuit protection
  • Proficient with Wired, RF, and Optical network communication Protocols and Hardware
  • Proficient with wired relay logic circuit designs for interlocks, limit switches, control relays, indicators, etc.
  • Communicating with associates, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to trouble shoot and identify problems, root causes, alternative solutions and components
  • Self-motivated to pursue continuous improvement
