JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Engineering intern position with multiple disciplines in mechanical, electrical, naval architecture and marine engineering design, CAD, product research, and file management responsibilities.

SCOPE OF DUTIES
The duties of the Engineering Intern shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
• Engineering and Design Work - Uses computer office, technical software and AutoCAD drafting tools for basic design work, including structural, mechanical and electrical system calculations, as well as vessel arrangements, and project modifications to existing fleet vessels. Performs stability analyses and engineering calculations to support fleet operations and design concepts.
• Vendor Review - Reviews equipment vendor and contract architect-engineer technical deliverables for compliance with specifications and required installed performance. Attends factory or shipyard tests as required.
• Technical Writing and Project Reporting - Uses computer office, technical and AutoCAD drafting tools for preparation of project technical presentations and project reports to middle and senior management.
• Engineering Data Administration - Assists in maintaining filing system for all technical files and drawings related to new construction and existing vessel fleet. Work will entail filing electronic and paper media.
• Filing system for Technical Library - Works with Engineering Manager and Staff Engineer on maintaining a technical library. Library consists of Owners manuals, parts manuals, as well as vendor related brochures. Work will entail filing as well as maintaining a database for sorting / retrieval of such documents.
• All other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: Entry level.
Skills:
• Oral and written communication skills required.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, and hydrostatic software.
• Ability to get along well with others.
Certification: Valid driver's license.
Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20
Hearing: Functional, correctable to normal to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.
Speech: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
Mobility: Unencumbered by physical limitations to perform the following activities: walking, climbing, reaching, crawling, lifting (less than 50 pounds), and driving standard and automatic vehicles.
HOURS OF WORK
Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm and may be adjusted with approval by the department supervisor. Some overtime, work related travel and weekend work may be required, subject to company operational requirements. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Note: Rotation schedule may vary and is subject to change based on vessel requirements.
