Position Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Automated Industrial Machinery

The Mechanical Design Engineer is a key contributor in the development of advanced automated industrial machinery that supports high-impact applications across the medical, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. This role focuses on designing innovative mechanical systems that directly influence performance, precision, and reliability in complex equipment. Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical assemblies, frames, tanks, enclosures, piping, pneumatics, and motion elements for automated cleaning systems
  • Create 3D CAD models using SolidWorks and produce release-quality 2D drawings with GD&T
  • Create and maintain mechanical BOMs, specifications, and documentation
  • Perform engineering analyses as needed, including stress/FEA, thermal/flow, tolerance stackups, and materials selection
  • Create and maintain P&IDs and pneumatic schematics for system documentation
  • Design for manufacturability, ensuring designs are suitable for CNC, sheet metal fabrication, and welding
  • Collaborate closely with Electrical Engineers on electromechanical integration and controls interfaces
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials, supporting production and assembly throughout the build cycle
  • Manage workload across multiple active projects with competing priorities

Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience with designing machines/systems
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field
  • Strong SolidWorks proficiency, including large assemblies, drawings, and configurations
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Practical understanding of DfM, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding/fabrication
  • Comfort with fluid system components and selection, such as pumps, valves, heaters, motors, bearings, and cylinders
  • Experience working closely with production teams
