POSITION SUMMARY

Support Facilities Maintenance, Process Engineering, Controls Engineering and all Production Areas with engineering and project management services for diverse projects which may include, but not limited to: 1) General Facilities Maintenance, 2) Utilities, 3) New Equipment Installations, 4) Modifications to existing Facilities and Process Equipment, etc., for the purpose(s) of safety improvement, process/production/quality improvement, cost reduction, etc.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned):
  1. Create and maintain all types of project documentation to include but not limited to project scope, budget estimates, project scheduling, equipment specifications, bills of materials, installation schedules, spare parts, new equipment maintenance schedules, etc.
  2. Produce and maintain engineering drawings for projects. To include overall equipment layouts, part details as well as sub-assemblies, schematic diagrams for energy sources, operations etc.
  3. Work with outside contractors/vendors to source goods and services need to complete various projects. Contractors/vendors include general contractors, custom machine designers/fabricators, installers, machine and fabrication shops, professional engineering services, etc.
  4. Liaison between Engineers/Project Managers at HQ and local vendors/contractors to ensure clear communication of project requirements as well as accurate and timely completion of project deliverables.
  5. Knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes for Industrial Equipment and Facilities.
  6. The ability to conduct detailed quality and safety FMEAs.

A. The Mechanical Engineer has supervisory responsibilities-Contractors only.

V. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A. Required Education and/or Experience.

1. Bachelor's Science degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university; preferred three years or more directly related experience and/or training.

B. Required Language Skills

1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as comprehensive financial documents and drawings.

2. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.

4. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, at all organizational levels including external agencies.

5. Must exercise good communication skills.

C. Required Mathematical Skills

1. Ability to perform high complexity mathematical equations and solve engineering problems.
  1. Other Required Skills

1. Computer skills such as MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.), AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.

2. Strong knowledge of machine design, fabrication, installation and maintenance.

3. Mechanical aptitude. Able to troubleshoot mechanical systems.

4. Ability to multitasking in a fast-paced environment, frequently adapting to changing priorities.

5. Work both independently and as a team member to troubleshoot and problem solve a wide variety of mechanical process systems.

6. Working knowledge of electrical power distribution and control wiring is a plus.

7. Understanding of Process Logic Control is a plus.

VII. WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work in typical office conditions.
  2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

VIII. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS/PPE

A. Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property.

B. PPE is generally not required while performing the duties of this job.
