Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer (Advanced Thermal Systems)

Role Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Thermal Systems engineering team. This is a technical leadership role focused on the mechanical design, product validation, and quality-driven engineering of complex industrial control components. You will act as a subject matter expert in precision drafting and manufacturing standards, utilizing critical thinking to lead design activities, support high-level quality improvements, and drive continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
• Technical Design & Drafting: Lead the creation and management of sophisticated 3D models and 2D drawings using PTC CREO. Design complex sheet metal parts, machined components, and mechanical assemblies with expert application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Product Validation & Quality: Develop and execute comprehensive part validation plans. Utilize structured problem-solving tools (8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa) to conduct root cause analysis for production issues, field returns, or supplier defects.
• Lifecycle & Configuration Management: Manage CAD data and design releases within PTC Windchill PLM. Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and part metadata within SAP, overseeing the Engineering Change (ECR/ECN) process.
• Lean Manufacturing: Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to enhance product reliability and reduce waste. Participate in PFMEA reviews and Kaizen events to optimize DFM/DFMA outcomes.
• Mentorship & Standards: Coach and mentor junior engineering staff on drafting best practices, GD&T application, and validation procedures. Ensure all documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with global standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Metrology teams to support prototype builds, engineering trials, and pre-production validation.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in mechanical design, product engineering, or quality engineering.
• Technical Mastery:
• Expert-level proficiency in CREO Parametric and Windchill.
• Deep knowledge of GD&T and assembly design.
• Proven experience in validation testing, inspection methods, and product quality tools.
• Software: Strong proficiency in SAP (BOM management), Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% to support supplier or manufacturing site visits.

Preferred Credentials
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
• Working knowledge of metrology tools and inspection documentation processes.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing environments collaborating with suppliers
