Position: Civil Engineer (Mid-Level)

Reports to: Director of Civil Engineering

Position Description: The Mid-Level Civil Engineer is an experienced professional who requires a motivated, self-starting approach, embodies Redland's values, and demonstrates steady advancement in technical expertise, project/task ownership, and professional judgment. This role contributes meaningfully to project success by taking increased responsibility for design, coordination, and documentation while broadening and applying technical skills with greater independence through completion of positional Learning & Growth goals. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues, working more independently on project components, providing mentoring and guidance to less experienced Associates, and applying a broader understanding of context and objectives of each task, all while producing creative, high-quality work that supports project schedules and budget goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Team Support & Ownership: Providing support to team members and Project Manager(s) as required while contributing more independently to project tasks and taking greater ownership of their completion.
  • Technical Production: Contributing to the preparation and completion of civil engineering designs, advanced technical calculations and reports, construction documents, specifications, entitlement documents, and permit applications for residential subdivisions, commercial & industrial developments, multifamily developments, and other private land development projects.
  • Design Leadership: Taking a lead role in portions of engineering designs related to water systems, sanitary sewer, grading, storm drainage, and roadway improvements, demonstrating increased responsibility and technical judgment.
  • Due Diligence: Performing material and code research, material quantity estimation, and other supporting documentation and tasks for projects, ensuring accuracy with less oversight.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilizing AutoCAD (CIVIL3D) and other software to produce designs and drawings for schematic, design development, and construction documents, applying professional-level proficiency and improved efficiency.
  • Collaborative Support: Supporting various projects and team needs through additional responsibilities as required, regularly assisting less experienced Associates with technical tasks and design workflows.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Competencies:

Education & Experience
  • Possessing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
  • Holding 2-4 years of civil engineering experience primarily focused on private sector land development projects.
  • Possessing working knowledge of civil engineering practices, including roadway, utility, grading, and storm drainage.
  • Registered EIT or actively pursuing completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Technical Knowledge & Software Skills
  • Ability to prepare accurate and visually appealing documents and drawings.
  • Mid-level proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in the use of MHFD's Design Resources and AutoTurn.

Physical Requirements:
  • This position works in-person at our office in Littleton, Colorado.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer workstation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Salary: $78,000 to $93,500.
