Job Description
Roadway Engineer | Miami, FLAs a Roadway Engineer, you will assist with the development of roadway design plans and perform various engineering calculations under the guidance of experienced staff. Tasks may include drafting horizontal and vertical alignments, calculating quantities, checking plans, and supporting CAD production using software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD. You will gain hands-on experience with DOT design standards and learn the practical application of roadway geometry, safety features, and design criteria. This role is ideal for candidates seeking to build a strong foundation in transportation infrastructure design while contributing to active projects.
Responsibilities: - You will work under the direction and guidance of Roadway Project Managers and Senior Engineers
- Provide technical support for transportation engineering projects
- Build a strong foundation in highway design principles, and concepts
- You will gain a thorough understanding of roadway geometrics and roadside safety design
- Use MicroStation/Open Road Designer/AutoCAD to produce plans
- Will be designing and producing plans and estimates for transportation projects
- Use AASHTO Greenbook, Roadside Design Guide, DOT Standards, and other guidelines and memos to develop design criteria
- Understand and apply geometric and roadside safety policies to design transportation projects including interstates and interchanges, new location roadways, roadway widenings, intersection improvements, bridge replacements, and multi-modal projects
- Develop signing and pavement marking and traffic control plans in conformance with MUTCD
- Prepare construction estimates
Qualifications:- 0-3 Years of Experience
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- EI (Preferred but not required)
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively on a team
- Must be a self-starter with desire to learn
