The Role:

Under thesupervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, works with ManufacturingEngineers to determine the most effective methods to increase productivity andmaximize efficiency by eliminating wastefulness in production processes. Deviseefficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials and informationin the manufacture of products. Depending on job performance and companyneeds, this could turn into a full-time position at time of graduation.

Your Responsibilities:

• Works to improve andmanage manufacturing processes; develops the most efficient ways to utilizeemployees, machinery and other assets to improve operations within thefacility.

• Designs and implementsnew processes and/or tooling required for new products, parts or components toinclude research and purchasing decisions and the assessment of requiredstaffing and training.

• Able to performoperational studies of existing operations to determine items such asproductivity standards, productivity improvement, operational needs analysis,time studies, and operation changes.

• Works withmanufacturing, engineering and quality to ensure process controls are in placefor new and existing equipment and processes including TPM, PM and safeoperation compliance.

• Designs and implementsimprovements for the use of machines or specialized tooling, worker training,staffing and scheduling changes.

• Develops trainingmaterial and conducts training on process control activities; recommendsrevisions and updates to standard operating procedures and work instructions asneeded.

• Trains and directsworkers engaged in measuring, testing, and tabulating data concerning processperformance and control.

• Devises samplingprocedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording,evaluating, and reporting process output; develops test plans and evaluatesproduction and testing equipment.

• Studies material flowand operations sequence, maps process and conducts studies to maximize workflowand spatial utilization; monitors and works to improve efficiency and safeoperations to meet quality and throughput needs of the customer.

• Manages key improvementprojects across all functional areas of the organization; develops VSMs andschedules Kaizen events and ensures completion to schedule.

• Applies LeanManufacturing methodology for process improvement initiatives; providesperiodic reports on cost savings and process improvements.

• Supports improvementinitiatives for environmental and safety compliance programs.

• Will help designprototypes or modifications to existing product or equipment.

• Support of company,department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.

• Maintenance of a cleanand orderly work area.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree inEngineering, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or Engineering studentwith three plus years completed course work towards major with three yearsrelevant experience and/or training.

• Must have knowledge of avariety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets,database and presentation software.

• AutoCAD and Inventorexperience with Solid Modeling and 3D design experiencepreferred. Familiar with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipmentmanufacturing, welding technology, control panel, materials technology,manufacturing methods technology preferred.

• Ability to applymathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determinationof test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques,sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to define problems, collect data,establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensivevariety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal withseveral abstract and concrete variables.

• Ability to read,analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,customers, and the general public.

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, ordiagram form.

• Ability to deal withproblems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
