JOB SUMMARY

The Project Engineer serves as the primary technical interface for both customers and internal teams, supporting new products from the initial costing phase through engineering release and into production. This role also provides ongoing product support, including managing engineering change orders (ECOs) and other maintenance requirements.

The position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all product documentation, including bills of materials, product routings, test support, and authorized sign-off of controlled documents to ensure alignment with customer specifications. Additional responsibilities include supporting Quality teams with product testing, validations, and ongoing regulatory compliance activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with customers on product design and development through full product realization, including early conceptual support and guiding customers toward design specifications that scale to high-volume production.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews with internal and external stakeholders, based on product complexity.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including source control drawings, component and tooling drawings, and circuit designs.
  • Develop and manage bills of materials, product routings, and documentation interfaces to support efficient production access to required product realization documents.
  • Partner with Purchasing by providing tooling drawings, material specifications, component sourcing requirements, and supporting lead-time planning for first-time purchases.
  • Support and/or lead prototype builds and First Article Approval cycles, including IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities, in collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing teams.
  • Prepare and document Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Assist with optimizing production processes following product release.
  • Support compliance reporting related to regulatory requirements such as RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, and similar regulations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; must be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • This role is based onsite in North Andover, MA. Travel is limited and business-dependent; however, occasional travel to Juarez, Mexico may be required to support new product realization, customer audits, or problem-solving efforts.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; and/or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • AutoCAD and/or Pro Engineer design proficiency, PCB/Circuit layout ability in Altium.
  • Proven problem-solving and design skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Effective team and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Indented Bills of Materials and Product Routing documentation.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
