Job Title: KBE Exterior -ADAS Sensor Packaging Engineer (Radars & Park Assist)
Pay rate: $35-$42 CAD Hourly
Location: Windsor, ON, N9A 5K3
Job Duration: 12+ months
Work Type: Onsite

Job Description
  • Knowledge Based Engineer (KBE). Responsibilities include creating CAD (Catia/NX) parametric math models for commodities using Knowledge Based Engineering template modelling techniques.
  • Position requires extensive knowledge of Catia/NX modeling and an extensive background developing / packaging / synthesizing complex vehicle systems.
  • Additional responsibilities include dictating architecture and construction techniques, creating master development / packaging / requirement sections, defining master template modeling structures, and training other Catia/NX engineers on modeling techniques, architecture.
  • The ADAS Sensor Packaging Engineer owns the end-to-end packaging of Park Assist Sensors (PAS) and Medium/Long Range Radars (MRR/LRR) within exterior systems.
  • This role builds and maintains sensor scorecards, validates compliance to CDD and supplier guidelines (e.G., curvature, rake, ROC (radius of curvature), groundline, B side clearances), generates install/uninstall envelopes, and leads the release of study and POR (plan of record) positions through Teamcenter across multiple vehicle programs. The engineer collaborates daily with PDO/Studio, ADAS, DREs, and suppliers to converge surfaces and hardware on compliant, manufacturable solutions, while documenting status via OK2M decks and controlled Step B/C releases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own PAS & Radar Packaging across front and rear fascia domains, positioning sensors per CDD baseline and surface releases;update PAS and Radar evaluations as surfaces evolve to maintain compliance and clear interferences.
  • Create & maintain program scorecards for MRR/LRR/PAS that capture requirements, pass/fail status, risk notes, and POR recommendations for each surface/baseline.
  • Generate install/uninstall envelopes (e.G., rear uninstall) and integrate them into scorecards and program documentation to protect serviceability.
  • Validate regulatory & supplier criteria including curvature radius, rake angle, ROC/groundline methodology, flushness and connector orientation, distance to B side, and coverage/clearance to surrounding components. Escalate shortfalls with clear, actionable proposals.
  • Author study and POR positions (e.G., moving PAS or MRR outboard/down, re centering covers) and request corresponding surface updates from PDO;iterate through successive CDD releases.
  • Release and baseline outputs in Teamcenter (e.G., Step B/Step C) for sensors, covers, and AI nodes;ensure DMU and pre-production trees are current.
  • Update Reports/issue decks with clear one pagers that show deltas to requirements, residual risks (e.G., minor rake or curvature non-compliance), and decisions needed from Studio/SE/ADAS.
  • Cross functional coordination with PDO/Studio, S&C, ADAS, DREs, and suppliers (e.G., Veoneer, Bosch) to reconcile packaging vs. Styling constraints, confirm best practices (e.G., radar in front of beam in certain conditions), and secure buy offs.
  • Methods & training-apply agreed "minimum"ROC and ground plane methods;contribute to training and continuous improvement of sensor templates and scorecard standards.

Required
  • Bachelor's in mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering field.
  • Proficiency with NX/DMU workflows and Teamcenter (baselining, Step releases, AI nodes).

Tools & Systems
  • Siemens NX, Teamcenter, corporate DMU practices.
  • Program documentation: Scorecards, OK2M decks, and release notes keyed to part number references and surface releases.

Collaboration & Interfaces
  • Daily with PDO/Studio, ADAS, DREs, and supplier engineering.
  • Regular syncs for surface releases and POR decisions, plus milestone Step B/C release readiness reviews.
