Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize tooling for manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling meets production requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling.
  • Manage tooling lifecycle, including procurement, maintenance, and end-of-life.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for tooling designs and specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in tooling design, development, and manufacturing within a high-volume production environment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) for designing and analyzing tooling components.
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, materials, and their impact on tooling performance and longevity.
  • Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles related to tooling.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application in tooling specifications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for mold design and manufacturing (e.g., SolidWorks, Catia, Mastercam).
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond injection molding, such as stamping, casting, or machining.
  • Knowledge of metrology tools and techniques for inspecting tooling and parts (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
  • Certification in relevant areas like GD&T, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
  • Ability to perform basic FEA simulations for tooling design validation.
