About the job Civil Field Engineer/Mining Design

The Field Engineer Civil/Mining Design will support the design and drafting of civil and mining infrastructure including roads, pads, stockpiles, dams, and open pit developments. This role requires strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and mine planning software (e.g., Minesight, Deswik), and hands-on experience at active mine sites. The successful candidate will collaborate with site personnel and engineering leads to develop and revise designs that reflect actual field conditions and operational requirements. This is a site-based role on a rotation.

Package Details

Responsibilities:
  • Engineering & Design Support
    • Create and update civil and mining designs using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Minesight, Deswik, or similar tools.
    • Design haul roads, waste dumps, laydown areas, water dams, drainage features, and stockpile pads according to engineering specifications and operational needs.
    • Generate construction-ready drawings, cross-sections, profiles, and earthworks plans.
    • Collaborate with survey, operations, and construction teams to confirm site conditions and ensure alignment between design and field implementation.
    • Assist in preparing design reports, calculations, and technical memos for review and approval.
  • Site Coordination
    • Work closely with site-based engineering and construction teams to gather field data and verify design requirements.
    • Update and maintain as-built drawings reflecting changes made in the field.
    • Participate in site inspections, layout verification, and support QA/QC of earthworks construction.
    • Contribute to construction planning, sequencing, and material quantity estimation.

Compensation
  • Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience; and
  • Compensation is based on actual hours worked.

Work Schedule

This is a rotational role based at a remote mine site. Work schedule is 20 days on and 10 days off. All travel, meals, and camp accommodations are provided during rotation.

Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in civil or mine infrastructure design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and at least one mine planning software such as Minesight or Deswik.
  • Previous experience working at active mine or construction sites in an engineering or field role.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with an attention to technical detail.
