Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Water Resources group in the Northern, IL. This is not a remote position.

CMT provides engineering design, planning, environmental, and construction observation phase services on projects in all four of these groups and more, which range from simple to complex.
As a
Water Resource Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in working with senior staff, to support a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects, working closely with experienced engineers on planning, design, permitting, and construction-phase services.
What you will do:
- Support water, wastewater, and stormwater municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction. Projects may include water main distribution and transmission mains, pump stations, sewer improvements, and stormwater studies.
- Assist with engineering design, calculations, and preparation of construction documents.
- Participate in field visits and provide construction observation, as needed.
- Prepare technical memoranda and reports and contribute to project deliverables.
- Assist with permitting efforts and coordination with regulatory agencies.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients.
- Attend project and team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow professionally within the firm.
Here is what you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook; PowerPoint a plus).
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability and willingness to perform field work and construction-related duties as required.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project meetings and job sites.
Ideally, you will also have:
- 0-4 years of Civil Engineering or relevant internship experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Exposure to water, wastewater, and/or stormwater design.
- Experience with hydraulic or hydrologic modeling software.

The expected compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
