Title: Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability
Pay Rate: $60/hr+ DOE

About the Role As a Mechanical Engineer focused on Design for Serviceability (DFS), you will evaluate form, fit, function, and service access across vehicle systems to ensure efficient inspection, maintenance, and repair. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Prototyping, and ERP teams to optimize service strategies, reduce cost and downtime, and enhance long-term fleet reliability.
What you will be doing: - Drive Design for Serviceability initiatives across part and assembly development from concept through production introduction.
- Evaluate designs for hand clearance, tooling access, ergonomics, and feasibility of component replacement.
- Identify requirements for specialized tooling and partner with tooling teams to support design and development.
- Develop cost and time modeling analyses to identify opportunities to reduce repair complexity and operational cost.
- Collaborate with technical writing teams to define and document repair procedures.
- Establish service part release strategies and maintain Service BOMs to support spare parts planning.
- Develop and maintain inspection and maintenance programs for operational and test fleet vehicles.
- Analyze maintenance effectiveness data and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure all inspection and maintenance activities comply with applicable industry standards and safety regulations.
About You You are a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with strong analytical and documentation skills who thrives in cross-functional environments. You bring hands-on experience in service engineering or mechanical product development and are comfortable managing projects independently. You are passionate about improving serviceability, reliability, and operational efficiency within complex mechanical systems.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience acting as project manager for I&M programs "Inspection and Maintenance"
- 4 to 6 years of engineering experience, ideally within a service engineering or mechanical product development environment.
- Strong 3D CAD experience; CATIA experience is a plus.
- Ability to design components for a broad range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Solid understanding of complex mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to manage projects autonomously.
Preferred Qualifications: - Proficiency in ERP systems for maintenance and operational data management.
- Proficiency with the SAP module PME "Planned Maintenance Module"
- Experience within the automotive industry.
