Engineering Design, Development, Installation and Support

Technical Expertise/Knowledge
  • Leads the Electrical Safety in the Workplace program (primarily NFPA 70e & OSHA 1910)
  • Design, troubleshooting and maintenance of HV/MV Switchgear, protective relaying and power distribution (various manufactures)
  • Design, troubleshooting and maintenance of MV/LV unit substations and 480 3ø power distribution (various manufactures)
  • Supports the standardization and maintenance of power monitoring system
  • AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, Revit, and other Autodesk suite software
  • SKM arc flash modeling software

Deploys the yearly preventative maintenance program for electrical utility and power distribution at our plants; coordinates with all stakeholders during plant shutdowns for power outages and reaching the organization's goals for the outage Leads and maintains plant power distribution one lines, arc flash study and power distribution coordination studies Makes informed recommendations for additions and modifications to new and existing equipment required for powerhouse, utilities and power distribution equipment Analyzes system failures and suggest appropriate resolution. Available for remote support 24/7. Maintain documentations of all engineering tasks performed for future reference purposes

Project Management

Leads, plans, organizes and controls major infrastructure projects; projects range from $100K to $5M.

Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, review engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget

Responsible for meeting project goals on scope, quality, cost and schedule

Handles multiple projects simultaneously

Coordinates the efforts of other engineers, technicians, plant personnel and contractors

Responsible for Safety Design Process for all projects

Responsible for Contractor Safety for all projects

Create documentation such as Training documents, Program backup, Network diagrams, Electrical drawings, etc

Consulting and Communications

First point of contact for power distribution anomalies with electrical utility providers

Work closely with Vendors, Local Utility Company, Consultants, Corporate Personnel, and Manage External Contractors on Installations and Maintenance

Give technical guidance on electrical design and installation for maintenance and production equipment capital projects

Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level professionals

Observes on-site activities during scheduled outages (Usually over July 4th and Xmas)

Participates in site surveys and assessments (Physical observation)

Maintenance of Expertise

Designing electrical control system knowledge for automated equipment

Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge to support other Infrastructure and production area projects

Understands industry trends, direction and standards that guide new technology offerings, and uses technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business objectives; attends trade shows, technical seminars, and reads technical publications to keep abreast of the latest technology

Provides training to other engineers, maintenance and plant staff

Travel is 35% up to 75% at certain times

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience, or other related degree with 10+ years of relevant experience

PE preferred
